Min Stay 21 days
~21 days of tribal living, deep connection, and children’s forest & lake activities. Experience the warmth of a shared community, with the grounding comfort of your own private Japanese cottage.
A journey into tribal living, connection, healing and a sense of belonging for all ages
A harmonious space where every child and every parent has time for themselves, and an environment that allows for organic development, both as individuals and as a tribe.

Located on Kyushu, Japan’s southern island known for its volcanoes, forests, hot springs, and strong connection to traditional rural life,
the retreat takes place in Miyazaki — a warm coastal region of open landscapes, green mountains, quiet beaches, and a naturally slower pace.
We are in the middle of a volcanic crater, that hosts a clear lake with fish, birds and so many animals, surrounded by a magical forest.

Accommodation & Setting
The retreat will take place at Miike Camp Village, on the shores of Lake Miike in southern Kyushu — a vast natural area within a national park,
Accommodation is in private wooden-style cabins, with one cabin per family and another main cabin (called the TANUSHI) for the use of kids (with toys, games, accessories for creation, woodworking tools, etc.) and also for adults (opportunity to do late-night conference calls, gatherings, and mediations).
The cabins are located within walking distance of one another, in a quiet, lush and natural setting that allows for both family privacy and natural connection between families.
The stay follows a traditional Japanese style: sleeping on futons that are laid out on the floor each evening and folded away in the morning.
We also have our big nature hall, workshop, or movement center, called the Mizumi. It is a huge heated, and closed building surrounded by windows on the lake, that can host us on rainy days or big gatherings, and also can be a quiet workspace and a public facility for us to use.
This is part of the local experience. simple, close to the ground, grounding and intimate.

The cabins themselves are basic yet clean and well-maintained in a meticulous Japanese standard.
Each cabin includes a private bathroom with tub, and a small kitchenette, both simple in design and function - but they are well equipped for us to cook our meals here and enjoy great food together.
As with any shift into a different rhythm of living, within a few days the body adjusts, and the simplicity begins to feel natural and comfortable.
This simplicity also allows flexibility. During the day, for those who feel comfortable, the cabin space itself can serve as an open area for creative work, movement, intimate conversations, or small group learning.
That said, most of the retreat will take place outdoors along the lake, around a living fire, on forest walks, and by the nearby stream.
The entire area is rich in abundant nature, inviting exploration, movement, and presence.
Our days will unfold in direct connection with the earth, the water, and the forest around us.
Meals are family-managed: each family takes care of their own daily meals, and usually we eat our lunch together. There is a large supermarket about 12 minutes drive, and a selection of restaurants nearby.
We also have a Nespresso machine, industrial free of charge washing machines and dryer, 2 tennis tables, and countless working stations and tables with great Wi-Fi coverage in the entire camping site.
Once a day, we will gather for a shared picnic. Where each family brings a dish they have prepared, creating a simple, colorful, and joyful communal meal
This is not a luxury hotel experience. It is a natural, clean, and simple setting where basic comfort supports depth, presence, and meaningful living.
The choice of this place allows us to combine family privacy, vibrant nature, and a simplicity that helps us focus on what truly matters.
Is This a Good Fit for Your Family?
This retreat may not be suitable if you are looking for:
Luxury resort amenities or 5-star hotel services.
Large, modern Western-style villas (our cottages are simple, and we sleep on traditional Japanese futons on the floor).
A completely isolated family vacation without daily community interaction.
It is a beautiful fit for families who:
Value a healthy balance between family privacy and vibrant shared community life.
Feel comfortable with simple, grounding, and close-to-nature living.
Are open to exploring a different, slower rhythm of life.
Why We Choose This Setting
We chose Miike Camp because it perfectly balances family privacy with a strong communal atmosphere. Living on the shores of a magical lake, surrounded by forests, supports connection, presence, and safe, endless exploration for children. While the physical comfort is simple and traditional, the natural beauty and the relational richness of the tribe are what make this experience so meaningful.
Japan is an extraordinary country, but it is no secret that it can also be expensive. We were looking for a place that could host traveling families seeking meaningful connection and depth, without turning the experience into a financial burden.
Our Invitation
We invite families to read this carefully, and feel into whether this environment truly supports them at this time. For the families it fits — it often becomes a deeply rewarding and memorable experience.
We believe that after a few days of natural adjustment to the grounding simplicity of the cottages and the nature around us, our focus will gently shift — from the structures to the people, from the setting to the shared experience — allowing us to truly immerse in meaningful inner and communal work.
